Cedar- Hot Process Soap & Shampoo Bar
Cedar comes from the Wakinyan Oyate, the Thunder Beings, according to Lakota oral tradition, in our time of Creation, when the directions were being established, the second oldest of the original four brothers came upon a giant nest made of cedar. It was the nest of the original and first Wakinyan (thunder being).
Our people use cedar ever since in honor of the Thunder Beings, to sustain their life and our connection. We burn cedar during thunder storms, as a way to remind the Thunder Beings of our connection and our homes will be safe and favored by them.
Cedar is one of the three medicines (along with sage and sweetgrass) that our people traditionally gift to newborns as it is considered a cultural Lakota norm to always have a gift for a newborn relative.
